If you’re bummed about the latest Cyberpunk 2077, maybe you can try a different Cyberpunk. The good news is, Cyberpunk Dreams is heading to steam this summer. It is a free-to-play narrative RPG set in a chaotic and dehumanizing alternate future in 2090—a place where you must carve out your own identity and survive through your deadly quests.
Cyberpunk Dreams will transport you to the future of Cincinnati as a lone traveler in the last outpost of civilization. Your choices are heavy as it can decide whether you climb the top of the scrapheap city or go down the drain and rot together with its people. Bear in mind that the decisions you make are real and have a lasting impact. In this place, you must have people in your pockets and know who to tap to for favors. It is as important as you are.
In Cyberpunk Dreams, play through your quests with your equipment choices and more. You can get to play as a smooth-talking socialite, a hawk-eyed purveyor of secrets, cybernetically augmented street tough, a master-hacker, or somebody in between. Remember that you have to survive this fast pace cesspool of a city no matter the cost.
Cyberpunk Dreams is a text-based RPG and is continually expanding. According to its developer, Late Night Games, it plans to support it through regular free content updates. This will give players new areas to explore, new arcs to discover, new friendships to make or destroy, and opportunities to develop to tackle bigger jobs.
This game will support Windows, Mac, and Linux users via Steam and has optional microtransactions. It is also designed to accommodate newcomers in the interactive fiction genre but also deep enough for veterans. The game also has a flexible approach when it comes to sexuality and identity, as you’d expect in 2090. It has a mature theme set in a world of violence.
