Anyone who has taken kids on a family vacation knows that things rarely go completely to plan. It’s often stressful, and arguments can erupt. And, when you’re spending a lot of money, then there’s a lot of pressure to have a great time. This all got too much for one dad in Disneyland, California, who had a meltdown at an unfortunate ticket cashier over additional costs for his trip, as shared on Reddit.
As a dad myself, I have some sympathy for parents when the stress of a family vacation gets too much. What you don’t do, however, is take out that frustration on a hapless ticket cashier just doing her job.
In the video clip, a dad at Disneyland, California is seen having a meltdown at a ticket cashier. Worst of all, his son is standing with him, listening to the angry tirade. As one Redditor lamented, “I feel so bad for the kid,” who has likely picked up that he’s at the center of the dispute. What’s supposed to be a fun family occasion will probably be forever marred in the boy’s memory by his dad’s meltdown.
The crux of the dad’s issue seems to be that, although he has a pass for his son, he still has to buy a ticket. We can’t hear the unfortunate cashier’s responses, but they clearly don’t satisfy the dad. The dad complains to the cashier, saying “your policy doesn’t allow him to get in.” All the while, he gestures angrily at his son and the cashier. I can only imagine how uncomfortable the people around the dad must feel. Eventually, the dad caves in and angrily shouts, “OK, I’ll buy a ticket!“
Let’s be honest – Disneyland is known for being extremely expensive. But you can’t go there unaware of this. Presumably, the dad was trying to save money by bending the rules, but he got caught out.
There’s no excuse, however, for angrily shouting at a ticket cashier just trying to do their job. As one commenter quipped, “My wife would rip me a new one if I acted like this.” Others pointed out the ridiculousness of shouting at the cashier, who obviously doesn’t set policies. At least the situation didn’t escalate further. If it had, at least one uniformed security guard and a plain-clothes security guy would’ve been on the dad in seconds. As one Redditor quipped: “Don’t mess with the mouse.”
