Former wrestler wants to play a wrestler in future Batman installment
According to cbr.com, Dave Bautista has been pleading with Warner Brothers and DC to play Bane in a future Batman movie. He should, and rightfully so; remember now, Dave Bautista comes from the world of wrestling, having spent a majority of the past 17 years, from 2002, in the business. He was with WWE from 2002 to about 2010, with one final run in 2018. He was known as “The Animal” Dave Bautista and when you received his Bautista Bomb, the match was as good as over. His last run in the WWE gave the infamous Bluetista gimmick. Dave Bautista had his retirement match at Wrestlemania 35, against his long-time friend/adversary Triple H, who pinned Dave for the win. The best part is that just like when he played Drax, he probably won’t need any makeup or CGI for whenever they decide to put Bane in the next Batman movie.
Dave Bautista’s started acting with roles on shows like Smallville when he played Aldar in 2006. Then on Chuck when he played T.I. (not the rapper). After those roles, Dave was cast in RZA’s The Man with the Iron Fists in 2013. James Gunn cast him in Guardians of the Galaxy, Dave has also worked with director Denis Villeneuve for Bladerunner 2049. With Army of The Dead, Dune, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also slated to come out within the next couple of years, all featuring Dave Bautista, he seems to be taking the mantle of top wrestler turned actor away from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Maybe not in box office bank, but definitely in the quality of the movies they are in. Careful there, Rocky.
David Bautista = Bane
This seems like an obvious no-brainer. Dave Bautista has proven himself a great actor and has the legitimate background to bring Bane to life. Tom Hardy played a more grounded and much more inaudible version of Bane, but I want to see the luchador Bane take on whichever Batman they go with, whether it’s Batfleck, Batman Pattinson, or Michael Keaton; The Vintage Bats. I’m partial to Kevin Conroy myself.
