Leonardo Interactive and Invader Studios have announced a prequel to Daymare 1998 titled Daymare 1994: Sandcastle. Daymare itself serves as a Resident Evil 2 inspired horror tribute. As it served as a tribute, the game then gained its own popularity and cult following. Leonardo Interactive’s posted a trailer for the upcoming title on their Youtube channel early May 26.
What They Revealed
Both names did not initially release much in the trailer. The game however will be available on PC, Playstation 5, Xbox Series, Playstation 4, and Xbox One next year. As of now, the prequel sees players arrive in Idaho prior to the incidents of Keen Sight. Sandcastle will also feature new weapons such as the Frost Grip (which blasts liquid nitrogen), an updated UI system, new puzzles, and more.
Daymare 1944: Sandcastle is a third-person story-driven survival horror game. Players will assume the identity of Dalila Reyes. Here, the ex-government spy is a new employee at H.A.D.E.S (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction). She must also take on the infection that has plagued the town. To uncover this mystery, however, Dalila must enter the most advanced experimental research center in the country. Those familiar with the original Daymare know not to underestimate the title just because it’s a prequel.
Daymare 1944: Sandcastle also promises to deliver a perfect blend of fierce and deadly enemies that players will have to face. Other features of the new title include new characters, an “Eye to the Scanner” feature on Reyes’s arm, and a new, chilling soundtrack. Both official websites of the developers have updates and news regarding the game.
Invader Studios and Leonardo Studios are two Italian-based companies. Both of them were responsible for the Resident Evil 2 Reborn fan remake, which Capcom acknowledged in 2015. The team was then invited to collaborate on ideas and modeling for upcoming games and remakes. Their most recent collaboration is the 2019 Resident Evil remake.
