The Injustice animated film has now received an IGN exclusive trailer and box art. The film is based on the popular comic story, and the video game was first announced in May.
The plot of Injustice centers around a world where Superman’s sense of justice is wrecked by the Joker. The description of the movie reads
Inspired by Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm Studios’ popular video game, and best selling DC graphic novel. The Joker has duped Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the Man of Steel into a deadly rampage. Unhinged, Superman decides to take control of the Earth for humanity’s own good. Determined to stop him, Batman creates a team of like-minded, freedom-fighting heroes. But when Superheros go to war, can the world survive?
Injustice and Those Coming After
Recently, it was announced that fans would be able to learn more about the film at this year’s DC FanDome. The virtual event specifically for the movie will be on October 16th (including a “sneak peek” of the movie).
As seen from the trailer, the movie will be receiving a rating of R. This is a major step up from the T-rated video game.
The trailer doesn’t show to stray away from the storyline of the game and the graphic novel. It’s not confirmed if the film will be a retelling of the 2013 video game, but the possibility is very likely. In terms of unlikely, this might be the final nail in the coffin for those waiting for an Injustice 3 game. However, Rocksteady is giving an extended look at their Suicide Squad game, which should state DC gaming fans for a while. This is also in combination with the extended look that WB Montreal will give of Gotham Knights.
The Injustice Animated film along with trailer will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 19th. There will be a combo pack available for $39.99 USD. As of now, there’s no word for a theatrical release.
