The eighth issue of DC vs. Vampires sees one of the Wonder Twins get a new power. As several remaining heroes fight against the vampire Aquaman’s legion of bloodsuckers, Jayna develops a new ability. According to CBR, she transforms into a tiger entirely made of water to save Supergirl. A significant change to her usual ability of just transforming into regular animals.
What Is Going On In DC vs. Vampires?
The latest issue, from James Tyrion IV and Matthew Rosenberg, follows Supergirl, Steel, and Black Manta. The trio travels to Australia on a boat as they attempt to keep Supergirl safe from both vampires and humans. After all, she is the final remaining symbol of hope in a DC Universe overrun with vampires. However, as the trio traverses the ocean, they are soon attacked by Vampire Aquaman’s Atlantean vampires.
The fight doesn’t go well for the heroes, and it soon looks like Kara will end up as lunch. Thankfully, a giant water Tiger emerges to save the day. That Tiger turns out to be Jayna utilizing a new power she gained from her late brother. Unfortunately, Jayna’s twin brother Zan did not survive the DC vs. Vampires series. In the first issue, he succumbed to the viciousness of vampire Green Lantern.
What Does This New Power Mean?
In the world of DC, Jayna and Zan make up the super duo of the Wonder Twins. The heroes debuted in 1977 as brother and sister who could shape-shift. While Zan could shape-shift into multiple forms of water, Jayna could transform into any animal. Of course, the duo needed to touch and say the iconic “Wonder Twins powers, activate” phrase to use their abilities.
However, with Zan gone amid the chaos of DC vs. Vampires, it looks like Jayna developed both powers. Now, her animals can take on watery properties to fight enemies in new ways. As seen in the eighth issue, her water tiger burst from within the Atlantean vampire, completely destroying it.
How this plays out will be revealed in the remains issued of the 12-issue limited series.
