The solicitations for DC’s June releases reveal the end of two popular series this summer: DC’s Batgirls and Tim Drake: Robin. The former from Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad will end with its 19th issue. Meanwhile, Meghan Fitzmartin’s Tim Drake: Robin #10 will be its last. Both series have become fan-favorites, and this news may come as a bit of a shock to readers.
DC’s Batgirls
This iteration of DC’s Batgirl has been running since December 2021. From the creative duo of Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad, the series follows the adventures of Stephanie Brown, AKA Spoiler, and Cassandra Cain, AKA Orphan. The duo are under the tutelage of everyone’s favorite Batgirl, Barbara Gordon.
For the 19th, and now final, issue, a synopsis from DC (thanks comicbook.com) teases a rebellion. The people of the Hill have finally had enough of Gunbunny and Gunhawk’s demands. So, they take to the streets to show support for the Batgirls, who are moved by such a display. A running theme within the series, this final issue proves that as long as we stick together, we can overcome anything. The final issue of DC’s Batgirls hits shelves on June 20.
Catching Up With A Former Robin
Meanwhile, Tim Drake: Robin is a newer series than DC’s Batgirls, running since September of 2022. This series, from Meghan Fitzmartin, puts Tim Drake back in the spotlight as everyone’s favorite Robin. It sees Drake going up against some serious baddies as he finds his place within Gotham and the world.
The synopsis for the 10th and final issue of the series teases a wild ending for Batman’s former sidekick. The issue finds Robin and Batwoman trapped. Even worse, they are trapped in the lair of the Chaos Monsters. While the duo is good at getting out of danger in a pinch, will they be able to do so and keep their sanity? All is revealed in the Tim Drake: Robin #10, out on June 27.
