The very first Dead by Daylight comic is ready to leave its mark come May 24. The video game tie-in focuses on the story of The Legion from the popular horror title. Titan Comics is set to publish the issue while Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive hopes this is just the beginning when it comes to comic tie-ins.
Dead by Daylight Comic Brings Legion to life
For the uninitiated, Dead by Daylight is a popular horror survival game for consoles. The premise of the multiplayer game is four players assume the role of survivors while another player takes on the role of killer. Obviously, the mission of the killer is to…kill the survivors. The game is popular amongst fans as it features original killers with interesting backgrounds, as well as popular horror icons from various mediums.
One of the more popular original characters is The Legion. This is a group of four murderous teens who share a desire to hurt other. Now, Dead by Daylight #1 is offering the origin story of how these four teens banded together to become The Legion.
A First Look at The Origins of a Killer
The folks over at Comicbook.com have an exclusive first look at three pages of the upcoming Titan Comics issue. Plus, Mathieu Cote, the head of partnerships at Behaviour Interactive, shared some insight into why The Legion was chosen for this very first issue.
We already know that The Legion was chosen because they “embody themes of teen, angst, rage, and revenge”. Or the perfect jumping off point for a comic series. Plus, unlike many of the other killers features in the game, they are not necessarily tied to the supernatural. This allows for the first issue to feel more approachable to readers. I mean, who hasn’t had a bout of teen angst once or twice in their life!
As for the story, fans of the game will be familiar with how The Legion came to be. However, this new version will completely expand on that knowledge and offer new and exciting details. For those who are unfamiliar with the killer’s origins, get ready! In the town of Ormond, chaos is about to reign as Julie, Joey, Susie, and Frank’s worlds collide.
