Iconic weaponry in video games has always been a symbol of power in the eyes of players. While weapons may be powerful on their own, they also must befit the setting and story. Yet, while a weapon can look the same, replicating that effect on the player can be difficult. Such is the case with Motive Studio Dead Space Remake, which puts players back into the 3rd person horror genre. While the remake has been moving and progressing in the right areas, there have been numerous instances of fans requesting something be changed. One such comment pointed out repeatedly was the plasma cutter, and rifle sound effects had changed. While the visuals were distinct, many longed for the old sounds from the original Dead Space plasma cutter. Yet, thanks to a new Twitter post on the Dead Space account, Motive Studio has responded to fan criticism and has changed the sound effect.

Why Did Motive Studio Change Original Dead Space Sound Effects For The Remake?
While this isn’t the biggest change a remake could have made, it stays true to the original product. While this isn’t too uncommon for a remake of a beloved title, some changes can be purposeful. Despite Visceral Games disappearing into EA’s various studios, fans still hold a powerful nostalgia for the original’s atmosphere and tone. While the Dead Space Remake is another year away at best, fans can rest safely knowing the plasma cutter will look, sound, and shred through enemies all the same. While there isn’t a specific date set just yet, be sure to check back for more info on the Dead Space Remake’s release.
