Dead Space writer Antony Johnston has teased his new game will premiere at the PS5 event on June 11th. There are already plenty of reasons to get excited about Sony’s presentation. This just adds to it. Johnston has been working on a new game for 2 years now. And he took to Twitter to let fans know they should tune in to find out more.

Other than this tease, Johnston is staying tight-lipped about the project. When asked for a hint, all he would say is that it follows a character “having a really bad time.” He also tweeted it’s weird how many people assume it will be another horror game. Dead Space is one of the scariest modern horror games. It has seemingly given him a reputation.
Johnston wrote the original Dead Space and its spin-offs Dead Space: Extraction and Ignition. He also wrote Ubisoft’s ZombiU for the Wii U and 2014’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which is the last game he wrote. Additionally, he’s an accomplished novelist and comic book writer. His credits include the graphic novel The Coldest City, which was adapted into 2017’s Atomic Blonde, and the Brigitte Sharp thriller novels.
While some fans might hope for a next-gen Dead Space, they may want to temper those expectations. The original game received two mainline sequels. But publisher EA closed developer Visceral Games in 2017. Many lamented this closure as the studio was working on an untitled Star Wars project, which EA canceled two years after the studio’s closure. There were also plans for a Dead Space 4, which series creative director Ben Wanat spoke about in 2018.
Sony originally scheduled its PlayStation 5 event for June 4th. But with worldwide protests over the death of George Floyd and police brutality, the event was postponed. The event will be over an hour long and will showcase the line-up of next-gen titles.
