Deadpool 2 just delivered a hilariously relaxing teaser trailer and it’s more or less what you expect from the character. Of course, the Bob Ross dig is obvious enough, but this teaser’s crammed plenty more gags and references into its surprising two-minute runtime. In fact, there’s more of them than there is the actual movie teaser. Just try and find everything. Go ahead.
The trailer itself is a teaser in every sense of the word, only around ten seconds long. But does it really surprise anyone that a Deadpool movie is going to troll its audience that hard? Still, for such a short trailer, there’s a lot of information crammed in. A lot of the information is likely to make more excitable fans jump with glee.
Really, this is just how to do a teaser. Every shot used revealed something about the movie to get excited about. Far as we can tell, the gang’s all back. Fan favorites like Weasel and Negasonic Teenage Warhead make triumphant returns. And yes, Dopinder’s back too.
Alongside them, we get what seems like a small glimpse of the newcomer, Domino. The only characters really missing are Colossus and our other newcomer, Cable, interestingly enough. Though that’s made up for by what we can only hope is going to be the official poster for the movie. Odd that a summer movie has a Thanksgiving-themed poster, but this is Deadpool we’re talking about.
We still don’t really know anything about the film’s plot. But even so, the film appears tonally consistent with the first movie, which is good to see. The original movie’s director, Tim Miller, departed from the projected due to creative differences. Many fans were concerned over the future of the franchise without him. And with good reason. This is ultimately still Fox we’re talking about.
Their track record is shoddy at best. But it seems fans can indeed breathe a sigh of relief. David Leitch appears to have maintained the essence of the first movie rather well, and with Ryan Reynolds still attached, it looks like the movie’s set to be another hilariously awesome outing for the Merc with the Mouth.
