Ever since Hugh Jackman declared he’d be hanging up the adamantium claws after 2017’s Logan, certain fans have begged the actor to co-star in a Deadpool movie as Wolverine. Well, as it turns out, they are not alone in wanting to see Jackman’s Wolverine lock horns with Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool. Deadpool’s very own co-creator is behind it all the way!
In a recent Instagram post, Rob Liefeld posted an image from a Wolverine vs. Deadpool comic story. Referencing his very own ‘All Along the Watchtower’ story from Wolverine 154-155, Liefeld pleaded for the star to reprise his role one more time for the potential movie. He even claimed that Wolverine inspired Deadpool’s creation:
You know you’re doing something right when a co-creator of Deadpool wants you to star in a movie with him. In fact, the very idea that Liefeld wants Jackman to reprise his role shows us once more how loved he is in the role as Wolverine.
If it wasn’t already clear, the “recent comments” Liefeld refers to in this post are the ones made by Jackman in an episode of Sunday Today. Jackman claims that Reynolds keeps reapproaching him on a potential crossover. He said “[Ryan Reynolds] is relentless. He keeps coming back to me in all these ways, shapes and forms. I just said, ‘You know I just don’t think the world really wants to see Deadpool and Wolverine.’ Maybe a cameo from Deadpool? I just think it runs over it for Deadpool.”
The host then jokingly replied, “His argument is he’d give a little boost to your career by putting you in a movie.”
“Oh, really? That’s nice of him. He’s throwing me a bone? Got it,” Jackman said before adding, “You know that term, dag, I mentioned? A dag is a goofball in American. It’s a goof. You’re such a dag, Ryan!”
