Deathloop is a game of many skills, being its use of supernatural powers and themes, or its simple yet core philosophy that a bullet should feel like a bullet (or in some cases, better). If you’re anything like me and wish to blast your foes to kingdom come, a finely tuned arsenal is the key to progressing through a game like this. And one such gun, which proves to be incredibly powerful, is the Heritage gun. With its puzzles being quite deceiving though, you may find yourself running into some trouble to secure it. No need to worry as, in this guide, I’ll tell you exactly how to get the Heritage gun in Deathloop!
How to Get the Heritage Gun in Deathloop
For starters, this guide is going to assume you’ve gotten the quest and have made it to Karl’s Bay at night. If you haven’t, continue to progress through the story until it shows up as an Arsenal Lead (with a cardboard box as its symbol). With that out of the way, make your way over to the Fathoms of Lament building. Keep in mind you may have to dispatch a few Eternalists before you can make it here. Once inside, you’ll find Deathloop’s Heritage gun…behind indestructible glass. More importantly though is a map next to it, with some blinking lights. If you’ve been working through this area already, chances are some of these lights aren’t blinking anymore though.
In essence, each of these lights represents a box as part of Charlie Montague’s little game. Some contain useful trinkets, while others are sure to blow your mind (literally). You want to head to each of these blinking lights, open up the boxes, and run away before you either get blown up, or return for your prize. Most of these are straightforward, but two will require a little explanation.
The first is the one located inside the Dawn of Reason club (which you can get into through an open window) behind a locked door with a code. Next to the door code however is a mural, depicting a red spot among several white spots, including a marking from one to four. The central four strokes indicate which of the four numbers this mural represents, and the dial with a red spot indicates its position. As such, you’ll need to run around the interior of the club, find four of these murals, and put in the code based on what they say. You may need to carefully position yourself, but you should be able to get all four numbers fairly easily. We would show an answer here, but these choices are completely random on each playthrough and loop. Keep that in mind if you plan to come back here.
The second one is within Hangar 2 (the furthest hanger to the left), and is thankfully a bit easier. Once inside, up top, you’ll notice one of the boxes that isn’t able to be opened, with a mysterious lever next to it. Pulling this lever will start a timer, and you’ll hear distant ticking. You’ll want to head towards each ticking noise and pull its corresponding lever, then do that several times until the ticking stops. I highly suggest bringing the Shift slab, as its teleport will make your job much easier. Once it does, and you hear a nice noise (if it’s a bad noise, you’ll want to restart these steps), head back up and open the box. Remember to run away from it though so you don’t lose a life.
Now, head back to the Fathoms of Lament building. At this point, you may think you’ve figured out how to get the Heritage gun in Deathloop. But alas, one step remains. You’ll notice to the right of the map from earlier that a door has opened up. Head inside, and prepare to do another lever puzzle like the one in Hangar 2. This time though, your abilities will be suppressed. No need to fret though, as you can head downstairs, kick the boarded-up hole in the wall a few times, and remove the suppressor altogether. Once done, you’ll need to head back to the initial lever up top and do a similar puzzle. The caveat here is there are blue tripwires that, when touched, force you to restart the puzzle. The Shift slab can help again here, but be careful regardless. Once you finally get all the levers, you’ll have opened up the glass and can get the Heritage gun.
All in all, I hope this helped you with how to get the Heritage gun in Deathloop. If it did, be sure to let me know in the comments. As well, share it around so it can help others!
