Deathloop has finally reached our doorsteps, sending us face-first into a time loop where killing is the only way out. As Colt, you’ll take down numerous targets as you work to evade the elusive assassin Julianna and discover all the secrets the island of Blackreef holds. One of the primary secrets you’ll be able to spot first is the various glowing items scattered randomly throughout the game world. As the game doesn’t make these items clear to you at first, you might not know why they’re there or what to do with them. No need to worry though as, in this guide, we’ll explain exactly what the glowing items are and how to use them in Deathloop!
What Are the Glowing Items in Deathloop?
To get this out of the way now, there will be minor story spoilers for the first parts of Deathloop. If you’re curious, progress through the story and you’ll eventually come upon the answer. If you’d like specifics though, this is your final spoiler warning. All set? Good. So as you’re progressing through the story, you’ll eventually be required to find and deal with Dr. Wenjie and her crazed experiment, resulting in several copies of her. Once you get to this point, you’ll need to take down all her copies and kill her. Once you’ve dispatched her, make your way into her lab (avoiding traps along the way) until you’ve found a machine of hers, including a canister to the right of it. Using this canister, head back to where you killed the final clone of Wenjie and suck up her glowy corpse (also known as residuum). Then, bring it back to the machine and head in.
Now to what will likely be to your immediate shock, this will kill you. But that’s ok! Because you get to keep a weapon, and now get some interesting powers. You’ll also finally know what these glowing items are in Deathloop, as they’re deposits of Residuum. Heading up to any one of these, hold the interaction button and you’ll score yourself some Residuum for your leisure. What is this, you might ask? Gathering this from visionary corpses, glowing items, etc. lets you use the Residuum on an item or Slab to keep it for the next loop! Be sure to use this stuff wisely though, as using it fruitlessly will result in you saving items that aren’t all that useful on the next loop.
I hope this guide helped to answer what the glowing items are in Deathloop. If it did, be sure to let me know in the comments below. As well, share it around so it can help others!
