Destiny 2: The Witch Queen features plenty of new weapons for you to get, ranging from your standard Legendary fare with plenty of perks to curate, all the way to powerful Exotics similar to previous ones added in other seasons. That’s not even including the full range of Exotic catalysts that were previously unavailable now returning with The Witch Queen, so exotics are aplenty when it comes to the new expansion. One weapon that you can get if you own the Season of the Risen pass is the Dead Messenger grenade launcher. But how do you get this weapon you may ask? In this guide, we’ll explain exactly how to get the Dead Messenger grenade launcher in Destiny 2!
How to Get the Dead Messenger Grenade Launcher in Destiny 2
For the first part of this step (unlocking the exotic quest that is), you’ll want to complete the Rising Tensions quest. This can be completed partially during the main story quest of The Witch Queen, but can also be focused if you just want the exotic. This includes handling everything with Caiatl and Lord Saladin, alongside completing the Psychogenic Decoder weekly seasonal quest. This will give an Insight, which can be spent at the War Table in the helm to secure yourself some upgrades to Psychogenic Intel gathering. While at the time of posting it’s unclear if your choice matters, we suggest going with the Throne World Surveillance upgrade just to be safe. Once that upgrade is done, Caiatl will offer you the Kill the Messenger exotic quest. Completing this quest and all its battles (which we suggest doing with two friends if you can) will award you with the Dead Messenger exotic grenade launcher.
We won’t prattle on about the details, but the general gist is that this grenade launcher has two main perks to it. Its main perk, Trinary Vision, makes the grenades release three different blasts on contact with the ground. Its other perk will make it so holding down a specific button depending on the platform will change its damage type between Arc, Solar, and Void. A neat little homage to the Hard Light exotic assault rifle by Bungie, if you ask us.
