Destiny 2’s next expansion, Beyond Light, is set to be one of the biggest fans have seen in a long time. The new add-on will bring new elemental abilities which originate with ‘the Darkness’, the big bad of the series introduced in the opening cutscene of Destiny 1.
Today, the second of a series of blog posts outlining the new Stasis powers focus on the Titan class. While the Warlock Shadebinder class outlined yesterday was focused on directly freezing enemies with Stasis, the new Behemoth Titan has elements of spatial control in addition to direct attacks. The new melee attack for the class, Shiver Strike, knocks back enemies and slows any nearby attackers. The new super for the Behemoth, called Glacial Strike covers the Titan in ice armor while boosting jumping and melee damage. The ice coating also allows a Behemoth Titan to shatter frozen enemies by simply sprinting or sliding through them. Normally shattering a frozen enemy will require an attack of some kind presumably.
As with yesterday’s Warlock rundown, no new details on the new subclass’ grenade ability were revealed. Instead the photos in the blog post hint at the new Aspects and Fragments items being added to the subclass mix. These new loot objects modify existing subclass abilities and character stats. For example, the two items pictured in the Bungie Blog, Tectonic Harvest and Whisper of Durance, create buffing crystals from defeated enemies and increase debuff duration respectively.
Grenade abilities make up a significant portion of the gameplay loop in Destiny 2. Leaving them out of these updates points to either a major change to the way they operate in the new Stasis subclasses or concerns over the length of blog posts. The last of these subclass updates is scheduled for Monday, September 8. Maybe Bungie is saving all the details about grenade abilities for the Hunter update.
