Compulsion Games has now revealed when gamers can be transported to the drug fuelled world of We Happy Few.  Both retail and digital copies of the game can be had as of April 13, 2018.  In addition, we also now know that the game will be sold at the full retail price of $60 or roughly double what those in Early Access paid initially for the game. Those wanting to save a little coin will be able to get a 15% discount on the game if they buy it before launch.
In order to justify the steeper price point for We Happy Few, Compulsion Games has confirmed that the overall scope of the title has increased greatly. The game started as a procedural rogue-like sandbox title with little overarching narrative. Over time, based on user feedback, it morphed to a larger world with three distinct stories fleshed out. Part of the decision was also based on urging from publisher Gearbox Publishing.  By teaming with Gearbox the developer thought they could reach a broader audience on multiple platforms at with retail and digital releases.  So yes, We Happy Few will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
By going the full retail route, We Happy Few will have DLC which the team at Compulsion will start working on once the main game is locked down prior to release. While they were tight lipped on what any future DLC might look like, they hinted the following.
“DLC for us is not ‘carving out existing content’; it’s building new content that we wouldn’t have been able to do as part of the main game. It’s risky, because now that we’ve announced it we’ve committed to it. It’s our first time doing it, so maybe in a year we’ll have a different opinion. In the meantime, once work on the game finishes up, we’ll have a bit of a rest, and then dive into the wacky world of DLC. “
