Diablo Immortal, the free-to-play spin-off that was announced at the wrong time, is now available to play on mobile Android and iOS devices and PC. Despite the negative responses from its reveal, fans are still hyped to get their hands on the latest title from Blizzard’s ever-popular action RPG series. Here’s everything you need to know regarding Diablo Immortal multiplayer, from sending Group Invites, Clan system, to cross-play and cross-server functionality.
How to Play Multiplayer in Diablo Immortal
Before you and your fellow demon hunters can play Diablo Immortal multiplayer, though, all of you have to complete the tutorial quest in Wortham. Defeat the Ifriss, the Destroyer boss, and speak with Deckard Cain, the character that should be familiar to all Diablo fans. At this point, you’re ready to make a Group. Here’s how:
- Access your Friends List by pressing the “hamburger settings” (the three bars) icon on the top-right corner of your screen.
- Click the Friends button.
- Click Add Friend and enter your friend’s BattleTags. Check yours in the top-left corner of the Friends List menu.
- You can also add suggested random players to your Friend List by pressing the + button.
- Now exit the Friends menu and look at your character’s portrait on the top-left corner.
- Click the + icon to open the Invite menu.
- From there, you should be able to send Group Invites to any online friends.
- Otherwise, you can open the Friends menu from the main menu by pressing the speech bubble button.
You can also join a random party via matchmaking by using the Party Finder feature. Open the Party Finder menu (right next to the Friends button) by accessing the hamburger settings icon again. Another menu will pop up that will help you filter what kind of players you want to play with.
Warband and Clan System
What is a Warband?
Warband is a kind of special Group that allows up to eight players to join. Playing with the same Warband members will give you special bonuses and content that will be useful when farming specific dungeons, including:
- Warband stash.
- Ranking rewards.
- Bonus chests.
- 5% loot drop bonus.
- And challenge the Helliquary bosses.
Before you can make a Warband, though, you’ll have to complete the “Establish The Warband Camp” Quest. To finish it, defeat 10,000 monsters from a camp area. You can then easily create and invite friends to your Warband from the Friends menu. There you can also find a list of all public Warbands.
What is a Clan?
Meanwhile, Clan is a large group that supports up to 100 players. You can invite members, set ranks, and set goals as the leader. Your Clan can then work towards daily and weekly challenges, competing for server leaderboards, as well as a range of goals, including membership to the prestigious Dark Clan and Immortal Clan titles, which we will cover in more depth at a later date.
If you want to make a Clan, you’ll have to spend 100,000 Gold in the Create a Clan option from the Clans tab of the Options menu. Joining one is also easy, simply open the Clans tab and just click Apply to one of many available Clans. But it’s up to the Clan leader to decide whether or not you’re worthy to be a member of their group.
Can You Play Diablo Immortal Multiplayer Through Cross-platform and/or Cross-server?
Does Diablo Immortal Have Cross-play?
Thankfully, Blizzard itself has officially confirmed that mobile players and PC users can play together. Through Battle.net built-in cross-play and cross-progression system, the team is making sure players anywhere all over the world will be able to slay demons wherever and whenever they like it together with fellow demon hunters.
“It is important for us to assure you that Immortal will deliver an uncompromised AAA mobile experience when played on Windows PC. To assure this, Diablo Immortal will launch on PC in Open Beta. What this means is that you will be able to take the fight to the Burning Hell’s legions on PC upon launch with full cross-play and cross-progression support.”
Since Diablo Immortal is using Battle.net for cross-play and cross-save, mobile gamers have to make sure that they’re not playing on a Guest profile if they want to keep their progress.
How About Cross-server Functionality?
However, at the time of writing, Blizzard doesn’t allow for cross-server play, and you cannot transfer characters across servers. With that in mind, make sure you and your friends are picking the same server before jumping in into the game. Nevertheless, Diablo Immortal is currently still in open beta, so the team might make a change regarding cross-server functionality before the full release.
