Hunt, or Be Hunted.
Loco Players, a new development team from the Canary Islands, seem to have a special passion for video gaming and dinosaurs. They’ve recently announced an upcoming survival-horror title simply titled Goner.
Being set on an island where civilization is absent and roaring giants of the past inhabit the land, you play as Anthony Sunder, who is on a journey to find his lost mother and her expedition crew. Leading him into dangerous territory, Anthony will need to step up his survival skills if he is to get out alive with his mother and her team.
Amid the jungled chaos, the island will be home to a variety of dinosaurs that will serve as the primary threat in Goner. The locals will also remain hostile toward you, however, for you are not one of them. As a lone wolf, you will learn how to manage your health, hunger, temperature, and fatigue as you continue to hunt, collect and craft specific goods for your perseverance and endurance.
Goner will be equipped with a weather system that triggers behaviors and changes in the environment and those that aim to hunt you down. Day and/or night, you can camouflage yourself with mud or water while trying to sneak around Goner‘s AI attitudes and patterns. The game can also be played through either a Story or a Survival Mode, all through a first-person perspective.
A teaser trailer for Goner (as seen below) presents some of the key elements in Loco Players’ first commercial title. Much of the open-world hunting and surviving is showcased in the first half of the trailer until the night aspects are shown to be risky times to be an adventurer, with vicious human beings untouched by modern technology and civilization and feral animals that know nothing better than to live and attack you.
Loco Players will launch a Kickstarter campaign on August 4, 2020. You can be notified as soon as the launching initiates through their Kickstarter page. Goner is being set for a 2021 release date for PC players on Steam, with planned ports for consoles if the funding goes well for the project.
