Disgaea 1 Complete

The classic JRPG has returned, and this time it is on your smartphone. Disgaea 1 Complete is out now on iOS and Android.

The original game, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, first released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. Since then, the series has had multiple sequels and spinoffs. The remastered version first released for the PS4 and Switch in July 2018.

Disgaea is a tactical role-playing game, where the action takes place on a grid. You control an assortment of different characters and take on enemies. You have a multitude of actions to fight, and your placement on the grid factors into avoiding enemies.

In Disgaea 1 Complete, you play as Prince Laharl, who must defend the Netherworld from forces that wish to take it over. Along with his vassal Etna, the angel trainee Flonne and a slew of other characters, Laharl will fight hoards of demons.

Disgaea 1 Complete

Not only is the Disgaea series feature known for its combat system, but also its style and humor. Each character is charming and brings a new technique to what JRPGs were at the time.

Along with the full game, this release also comes with Etna Mode. Etna Mode adds extra characters that were not in the original release.

As this is the complete edition, the game has hundreds of hours of content to play, which makes it great to make it great for gaming on the go.

Disgaea 1 Complete Adds Updates for Mobile Phones

Disgaea 1 Complete also comes with changes for the phone screens. The game has been redesigned for touch support and mobile, and features cloud saves to transfer between platforms.

For those that find the sluggishness of RPGs to be infuriating, Disgaea 1 Complete features an auto-battle mode as well as a high-speed mode.

Disgaea 1 Complete is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for $32.99. While that might seem like a stretch to pay on a phone, a benefit is that there are no gacha systems or ads to get in the way.
