Developer Nipon Ichi Software has officially confirmed that Disgaea 7, the next chapter in the iconic the next entry in the Disgaea franchise, is set to release in Japan for PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on January 26, 2023. There is currently no western release date revealed at this time.
What Players Can Expect from Disgaea 7
The Disgaea franchise is a popular simulation RPG series that first made its debut in 2003 with the tactical role-playing game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.
Disgaea 7 is set in a version of the Netherworld full of demons, angels, heroes, and evil lords called the “Hinomoto Netherworld Cluster,” which is inspired by Japanese culture. Players must fight through this world in order to regain their lost Bushido as a swordsman named Fuji along with a young woman named Piririka. Disgaea 7 will also feature 45 generic characters, a first for the franchise, as well as an “online AI battle mode”.
The characters are designed once again by series artist Takehito Harada, and the company promises that the series’ signature “replayability features” and “over-the-top battle systems” will return and be further enhanced in this newest entry. These include a new system called “Dodeka MAX”, which will enlarge the characters to the point that they leap out of the map. Players can use this to defeat multiple enemies with a single, powerful blow, open giant treasure boxes, and wreak havoc all across the map.
The previous entry, Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny, was launched last year for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in North America and Europe on January 28, and the Complete version includes all the previous content and DLC was released on June 28, 2021.
