Bethesda has shed some light on the upcoming standalone Dishonored 2 experience which is titled Death of the Outsider. The publisher touts the release as a culmination of the Dishonored story-line which has played out over the course of two games. Although, the game will be a stand-alone adventure. This will prove a worthy introduction to the Dishonored world for those that have not yet dabbled in it.
Death of the Outsider allows gamers to play as Billie Lurk, for the first time in the history of the series. Lurk is tasked with what Bethesda calls, “The greatest assassination ever conceived”. The assassination contract involves eliminating a “supernatural God-like figure”. Lurk will be able to draw upon the many super powers she has at her disposal. This will, of course, include the ever popular blink power which lets characters instantly teleport to a pre-selected spot in the distance. Lurk has other exclusive goodies that are unique to her and her skill set as an assassin. The video below shows Lurk drawing the life force out of a foe until it becomes a tangible mask of energy. We also see her artificial arm transforming to various weaponry.
In Death of the Outsider, Billie Lurk will revisit familiar territory from the Dishonored franchise such as the Empire of the Isles and the city of Karnaca. These levels will see Lurk, “infiltrate underground fight clubs and black magic cults, and retrieve ancient artifacts in a thrilling bank heist mission that sets the table for your greatest mission ever” according to the Bethesda’s website.
Death of the Outsider releases September 15, 2017, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game is developed by Arcane Studios, out of Lyon, France. The studio is known for titles such as Bioshock 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Arx Fatalis, Prey and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic plus, of course, Dishonored and Dishonored 2.
