I’ll be honest with you for a second and admit that I’ve yet to watch The Mandalorian. Despite this shameful fact I’m still in love with Baby Yoda, you’re also in love with Baby Yoda. The whole world loves Baby Yoda. Referred to as The Child by Disney, the little guy has been the stand out character for many fans watching the show.
Already there have been countless memes, videos, and merchandise available, and now there’s more as Disney will let you walk in Baby Yoda’s shoes. Should you have a spare $89.95.
Partnering with Zazzle, Disney has launched a pair of Baby Yoda (The Child) Ubuntu Afridrilles. A pair of slip-on shoes that they describe as one of a kind and perfect for doing good and feeling good.
Personally, I hadn’t heard the word ubuntu before, but it is an African philosophy of unity. Ubuntu is also an organization that believes products purchased should connect us to the people who make them. They also give back to health and education projects in Kenya, which suddenly makes the price tag seem more attractive.
Have a look at the shoes and see what you think:
That design is not for me, but the shoes themselves do look reasonably comfortable. Each pair is handmade by Ubuntu moms in Maai Mahiu, Kenya. Due to this, Disney does warn that each pair could have slight stitching and color variations, and they are all individually made from local materials. Something I find as a point in their favor.
The inside lining can be customized with a range of colors just in case the current design isn’t loud enough for you as it is.
Should you, like me, not like the idea of walking around with these on your feet, Zazzle is also offering the pattern on a load of other products, including phone cases, notebooks, flip flops, and even a skateboard. We aren’t quite getting to Kiss levels of merchandise yet, but I do look forward to seeing what they slap Baby Yoda’s face on in the future.
Let us know your thoughts on these shoes in the comments, who knows; you may have bought them already and are currently looking down your nose at me for not liking the design.
Also, let us know your thoughts on The Mandalorian as a whole. We quite liked it, as I’m sure I will when I binge it. You can check out our latest episode review here as the world waits for season 2 and a lot more merchandise.
