Disney+ is set to air later this year, an exclusive TV streaming service for Disney fans. Already many interesting shows have been announced to include Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Marvel shows, and a Monsters, Inc series titled Monsters at Work. This week’s Annecy International Animated Festival included Disney revealing more details about the series.
The plot of Monsters at Work is tied to the first Monsters, Inc film and will featuring the original voice actors, John Goodman and Billy Crystal, as Sully and Mike. They will be helping out the newest employee on the Laugh Floor and it will take place six months after the first film. The cast includes Ben Feldman, Kelly Marie Tran, Henry Winkler, Lucas Neff, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Stanton, Aisha Tyler, John Ratzenberger, Jennifer Tilly, and Bob Peterson.
French Disney manager, Helene Etzi, stated:
Animation continues to be one of the cornerstones of Disney magic and story-telling, across Disney Channels and excitedly, now on the new streaming platform, Disney Plus. As a company, we are privileged to work with so many creative masterminds, both here in France and across Europe, who are first in class when it comes to relaying timeless stories for all members of the family.”
Orion Ross, the VP of animation, digital, and acquisitions for Disney Europe and Africa, said:
This is a hugely busy and exciting year and there’s no better time to be working in animation, which continues to be at the heart of what we do at Disney. We are proud to announce this exciting slate, working with phenomenally talented international creatives to deliver stories that are full of fun, creating characters that are extremely loveable, and showcasing a breadth of animation styles.”Â
Despite Disney+ launching this year, Monsters at Work won’t be available until late 2020. Until then, time will tell if Disney+ is going to meet all the hype.
