It appears the world can’t stop talking about Bruno after all. Disney Encanto’s We Don’t Talk About Bruno has topped the charts and claimed the number one spot after five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. Billboard news reports We Don’t Talk About Bruno is the highest-charting song from a Disney movie in over two decades and is only the 2nd number one song from a Disney animated film (the first being Aladdin’s A Whole New World). The Disney original Latin-pop song was written by composer Lin-Manuel Miranda who famously composed the soundtracks for Disney’s Moana, Sony’s Vivo, and 2021’s live-action musical In The Heights. With one week at number one, We Don’t Talk About Bruno is the songwriter’s first number-one single.
Disney’s Encanto We Don’t Talk About Bruno Tops The Charts
Since its premiere on the Billboard charts over a month ago, the catchy salsa track has received all sorts of accolades, including Billboard’s awards for the biggest gain in digital sales gains in performance. Currently, it holds the record for the most artists credited on a number one single with a total of 7. In addition to its single, We Don’t Talk About Bruno; the Encanto Original Soundtrack has been finding success on its own. Currently, it holds the number one position on the billboard 200, making the Encanto OST the first movie soundtrack to claim number one since 2020.
We Don’t Talk About Bruno is sweeping the world by storm, with some fans already declaring it a masterpiece. The song features the vocal talents of Encanto stars Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, and Stephanie Beatriz.
Although Disney’s Encanto initially premiered in theaters on November 24th, 2021, it gained most of its popularity after its streaming premiere on Disney Plus a month later. The combination of Encanto’s original heartfelt story, culture-rich soundtrack, and vibrant art style has already earned the animated film 11 awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture.
