PlayStation has released a new trailer, which announced a new game called Divine Knockout. The game is being called the world’s first 3rd person platform fighter and will be released on December 6. PlayStation also posted a Blog Post going into more detial about the game.
Divine Knockout Announced
The trailer for the newly announced Divine Knockout shows us just what a 3rd person platform fighter is. The goal of weakening enemies until you can knock them out of the arena is the same as typical games of the genre (like the Super Smash Bros. series), except now you will need to do this on a 3D arena.
Combat in this game focuses more on positioning and timing, rather than worrying about pulling off combos. Each character will have light and heavy attacks that can be chained, and a dodge. The main draw for each character will be their three abilities and their ultimate, however.
Divine Knockout will launch with 10 characters, which will feature gods from many different pantheons. On top of this, Red Beard Games plans on regularly adding new gods. There will also be a talent system for each god, meaning you can customize your character to have a completely different playstyle to someone playing the same character.
The game’s core modes involve battles of 3v3 with different kinds of objectives. The different modes confirmed so far are Knockout, King of the Hill, and Oddball. For the more competitive players, there will be a 1v1 and 2v2 mode where you will be put in a smaller arena with fewer obstacles, meaning you will have to rely more on your skill to win.
