Black Adam is aiming to take his new Justice League on a darker path than their predecessors. The self-appointed leader of the young team wants them to take a more aggressive approach when it comes to fighting crime. He wants them to begin killing the wrongdoers. This is a big departure from how Superman and the others ran the Justice League.
What Does Black Adam Suggest?
As CBR reports, this week’s Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #3 sees Black Adam make the suggestion. As the young members of the Justice League meet to discuss the deadly attacks of Deathstroke, their leader lectures them. He warns them to take stronger action against enemies like Deathstroke to stop events, like Beast Boy’s hospitalization, from happening again.
To emphasize his point, Black Adam places Count Vertigo in a headlock. He suggests they do what must be done and send a message to the world. That message includes hanging Count Vertigo’s body in front of the Hall of Justice. As tensions rise, Jon Kent demands that he release the villain. However, it is Wonder Girl who uses her magic lasso to get him to release the villain.
Why Suggest Such a Thing?
Black Adam’s aggressive approach is likely due to his survival in the assault that killed the rest of the Justice League. Pariah’s dark army decimated Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the team. This left a Justice League-shaped hole in the world. Luckily, the younger generation of heroes like Jon Kent, Damian Wayne, and Wonder Girl rose to fill the void. While Black Adam initially refused to be a part of the new team, he eventually appointed himself the leader.
Now, he is taking the Justice League down a darker path. While the other members refuse to resort to murder when it comes to saving the world, that isn’t the hero’s only option. In the final pages of the issue, we see Black Adam approaching the Legion of Doom. He is hoping that the villains will step up and do what he feels must be done and what the heroes refuse to do.
