Who doesn’t love cute girls with a violent edge? Fans of Doki Doki Literature Club sure do, and they are in for a treat! Dan Salvato announced that new content is on the way for the cult-classic visual novel. Even better, the new content will release sometime this year.
Dan Salvato, the sole developer of Doki Doki Literature Club, tweeted earlier this week, “This will be the year I reclaim my happiness so I can deliver it to others! My goal is to fully return to doing the things I enjoy, such as making games. First releasing new DDLC content (not a sequel), then blowing the dust off my next original VN which has been on hold for 2 years.”
According to a report from Screen Rant, “Salvato has indicated in the past that future DDLC content would aim to give players a deeper look into the game’s characters. He also indicated that his next visual novel would feature a ‘more comprehensive and diverse storyline‘ than what we saw in DDLC.”
Salvato has made it extremely clear that this is not a sequel to Doki Doki Literature Club, and it doesn’t seem like there is one on the books at the moment. The original dating-sim released back in 2017, and, according to the tweet, Salvato has had another original idea on the back burner since then. Needless to say, fans are super eager to see what the developer has in store.
As of this writing, there is no official release window for the new content, but it is available now for free on Steam.
