Bethesda’s DOOM reboot has been a very fresh and successful look at the classic Id Software title. With an explosive amount of content packed into DOOM Eternal, Bethesda has teased the first of a series of DLC in a video published today. They pack quite a lot of content in the momentary glimpse of gameplay and environments into this half a second clip, there’s plenty of interesting and new details to explore. Titled as The Ancient Gods, implying that Doomslayer will have to be facing some god-like challenges yet.Â
As the first part of a year pass, the story is picking up after the primary campaign and thrusting Doomslayer into a few new environments. There’s a specifically frigid part of hell on the cover of the DLC, a rainy base in the ocean and a seemingly godly ethereal world. The clip starts with a voice-over from the artificial intelligence in the reboot, VEGA. The ominous words and delivery allude to the true identity of the AI.
With more quick cuts between melees and gunshots, we can see brief looks at the mechanized monstrosities. Many of the newest additions will be supercharged returning enemies that have alternative ways to kill. One of the final shots of a new enemy is the returning Maykr Angel from the original 2016 Doom.Â
It seems like the tone of the DLC is ramping up the tempo to higher heights much like the original windows games. With the title also coming to next generation consoles, the grotesque and exhilarating action the series is known for just keeps on coming. The trailer ends with an announcement of a full trailer to come later this month at Gamescom. Hopefully showcasing a release date as well, it marks one of the biggest gaming events in Europe to host the next step in Doom. The entire clip and information regarding everything new to come for DOOM Eternal will be showcased at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 27th, 2 PM Eastern/11 AM Western.Â
