Rip and tear, until it is done! The true motto of the DOOM series, one quite close to my heart. DOOM 2016 for me was the greatest game I’ve ever played, with DOOM Eternal (which I just finished last night) being very close to there for me. There’s nothing quite like slaughtering demons to intense soundtracks to turn the adrenaline up to 11. With all the platforms it’s currently on, id Software wants to give Switch players something fresh before Christmas. As such, DOOM Eternal is now available on Nintendo Switch, and boy do you not want to miss this. You can check out the Nintendo Switch version’s official trailer below.
DOOM Eternal tells the story of the DOOM Slayer, a god-like human who wants nothing more than to tear through every demon imaginable. Following his victory over the demons on Mars, the demons, led by the Khan Maykr, have launched a full-scale assault on Earth, looking to eradicate everything in their path. With casualties ranging in the billions, only one man can put an end to the demonic invasion. Rip and tear across various levels, working more and more to stop the Khan Maykr and save your people before it’s too late. What are you willing to sacrifice to save humanity?
The Nintendo Switch port of DOOM Eternal was developed by Panic Button along with id Software. The studio is well known for its ports of DOOM 2016 along with Wolfenstein II and Wolfenstein Youngblood. As such, this port is just as good offering plenty of optimization for the handheld platform. One such improvement is motion aiming, a control option utilizing the gyro control function of the joycons. This should provide an increased level of immersion, along with making aiming that much easier.
Overall, DOOM Eternal should be a great title for those who prefer the maneuverability of handhelds like the Switch. If you’re planning to pick the game up on the platform, be sure to let me know in the comments below. You can also get the game on PC, current, and next-gen consoles if you prefer any of those.
