Dota 2 features more than one hundred free playable heroes and now includes two more. A trailer for the new heroes Grimstroke and Mars played inside the Rogers Arena in Canada this week, and fans are happy to know one is available to play now.
Grimstroke
Players can take control of Grimstroke right now in Dota 2. He’s a fighter that focuses his attacks from afar.
Grimstroke studies every movement and assesses each line, deciding when to emerge from inky darkness to disable his victims and bind them together with a swipe of his brush. He delights in unleashing phantom thralls to vex opponents, as he carefully considers how to dispatch multiple enemies with one final stroke.”
Grimstroke uses a paintbrush, called the Runebinding Brush, to attack his victims.
Consumed by the very magic that was meant to protect them, Grimstroke’s kindred now exist only as inky revenants, bound forever to his brush—their anguished screams and viscous forms apparent in the strokes of each dark mural he creates.”
His Stroke of Fate ability paints a streak of ink towards his enemies. Slowing them down and causing damage.
Phantom’s Embrace sends a phantom that attaches to an enemy, silencing and damaging them. If it lives through the encounter, it inflicts heavy damage and refreshes the cooldown time for Phantom Embrace.
Ink Swell covers Grimstroke or allies in ink, silencing them while granting a bonus to speed and making them immune to damage. The ink also damages enemies over time before exploding and stunning the area.
Soulbind links two enemy heroes together stopping them from running away from each other. Ally targeting spells that hit either one hurt both.
Mars
Mars is the second new playable hero for Dota 2. The trailer featured a brief look at the hero standing atop a battlefield wielding a spear and shield. Mars is the Roman god of war and strikes a resemblance to the new character.
Dota 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Valve.
