Some franchises keep on going, even after several years. Dragon Ball has been one of those for many years now. First came Dragon Ball, then GT, then Z, then Super. In between, there’s been a whole host of films, and now there’s a new one. Perhaps the title isn’t the most inventive one ever, but Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will be the next entry in the Dragon Ball movie franchise.
The last one in that series was Dragon Ball Super: Broly back in 2019, which saw the return of the legendary Super Saiyan Broly after a few decades since his last (and non-canon) appearance, and was an absolute blast, culminating in a series of amazingly animated fight scenes between Broly, Frieza, and Goku and Vegeta. Announced in the Dragon Ball panel at Comic-Con 2021 in San Diego, we got the title, and now, a first teaser trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball film.

As you can probably tell by the teaser trailer above, Goku loves to limber up before a big fight. We don’t know what the plot will entail, although judging by the Super in the name, it will follow the universe of Dragon Ball Super, the anime and manga series that followed up the iconic Dragon Ball Z series. The manga may still be going, but the anime adaptation ended its run a short while back. Hopefully, this Dragon Ball movie is just what fans have been wanting. They may be wanting a little while, however; while the teaser trailer ends on a tentative 2022 release date, a crucial detail lies in the small print below: “The release schedule may differ depending on the countries and regions.” Hopefully, that doesn’t vary too much, but if we hear more details, we’ll be right back here with them.
