Media Molecule’s co-founder says the next big additions coming to Dreams are VR support and requirements to make multiplayer games.
Sony’s first PS4-exclusive launch in 2020 seems to be overwhelmingly successful regarding the favorable reviews it receives from the media. As an easy-to-use game engine, Dreams provides you everything that you need to reach your “Dream come true” moment in the world of video game development. Preparing a wide variety of options to create games, in Dreams you can build your own game-developing studio and work with your friends to create a game with no additional costs and no crunch.
In a recent interview with VGC, Mark Healey, the creative director behind Dreams, revealed that players will be able to create virtual reality and multiplayer games in the near future. Healey also clarified that as long as Sony is behind them, they will be supporting the game. He said:
We treat it as a platform, this isn’t like we’ve made a game, ‘what are we going to do next?’ Releasing it is just one stop along the road really. We want to carry on supporting it. We’re currently working on VR, so we’re going to do a VR update with VR content.
He also pointed out multiplayer online games as one of the most demanded updates from the community, of course after VR.
Dreams was available as an early-access game for nearly six months and it launched as a full game recently on February 14. The game has currently reached the Metascore of 91 which is spectacular, making it the most successful game of this year so far, though there are strong competitors on the way to arrive later this year, which makes The Game of the Year rivalry harder than ever in the current generation.
It’s worth noting that Dreams will be available on PS5 and it’s currently playable on Sony’s next-gen console.
