In other Dune news, something even more fortunate, the amazingly talented actress Florence Pugh might be joining the Dune crew for Part 2.

If all goes well with the deal, Florence Pugh will star as Princess Irulan Corrino, a royal who becomes romantically entangled with Timothée Chalamet’s character Paul Atreides. If Pugh does become a part of Dune, her character (at least in Frank Herbert’s literary canon) ends up playing a crucial role in the “Dune world.” That all depends on how far the makers of the Dune films are willing to dive in.
Production for Dune Part 2 is expected to begin this summer, with Villeneuve returning as director and most of the main ensemble. Chalamet returns along with Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stellan Skarsgård. The Dune sequel is slated to release in theaters about a year and a half from now, on October 20, 2023.
