Part One of Denis Villeneuve’s adaption of Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel, Dune, had a stacked cast. The Dune: Part Two cast list shows off it has expanded greatly by confirming people who were in talks for the project. Austin Butler (Elvis) plays Feyd Rautha Harkonnen, Christopher Walken plays Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh plays Princess Irulan Corrino, Léa Seydoux (No Time to Die) will portray Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub (No Man’s Land) plays Shishakli.
The Dune: Part Two cast will round out the story of the first 1965 sci-fi epic novel. The first film covered approximately the first half, and this round out the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he and his mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), follow the Fremen to fight again the tyrannical Harkonnen who have invaded and killed many of the Atreides forces. Other returning stars will include Zendaya as Chani, Javier Bardem as the Fremen leader Stilgar, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Stellan Skarsgård as the villainous Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Dave Bautista as Count Glossu Rabban Harkonnen, Charlotte Rampling as Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother Mohiam, and Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat.
Dune: Part Two cast list confirms negotiated stars
The cast of Dune: Part Two are not the only ones returning. Villeneuve returns to direct, co-write, and produce. He will write with Jon Spaihts (The Mummy). The filmmaker produces with Cale Boyter, Jessica Derhammer, Tanya Lapointe, Mary Parent, and Patrick McCormick. Herbert W. Gains, Joshua Grode, John Harrison, Brian Herbert, Kim Herbert, Byron Merritt, Richard P. Rubinstein, Spaihts, and Thomas Tull.
The first film’s success got the green light for the director, writers, producers, and cast to move for Dune: Part Two. As a dream project, Villeneuve spoke about the opportunity.
“I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two. It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune and I have the fans, the cast, and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. to thank for supporting this dream,” he said in a statement.
The film will shoot in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy. The sequel to the six-time Oscar-winning film will be released on November 17th, 2023, after a brief delay from its previous release slot in October 2023.
