Eberron: Rising From the Last War is the newest core book for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition and players will be able to explore the world this November.
Wizards of the Coast made the official announcement today but the head of D&D, Nathan Stewart, teased the Eberron campaign setting in May.
Based off of the world created by author Keith Baker, the new tome will see players exploring a wartorn land mixed with technology and magic. While D&D certainly has flying airships and arcane railway stations, it is fundamentally founded in the belief in the arcane. Where Eberron differs, is how the culture uses and treats magic as a way to enhance its technology and livelihood.

Jeremy Crawford, the Lead Rules Designer for D&D, says the book pulls content created by Baker and his work on the DM’s Guild bestseller Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron. Instead, From the Last War is a 320-page standalone guidebook for dungeon masters and characters that features new monsters, classes, and 16 races.
A few of those new races and subraces include monsters such as goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, and orcs. However, many of these have been featured in previous campaign books, but Crawford says their stats will vary in the upcoming guide. Players are also free to choose from four other distinct races: warforged, changelings, kalashtar, and shifters.
The newest class coming to the Eberron campaign guide is the artificer. While it isn’t a brand new class for the game – being playable in 3.5 Edition – this is the first time it is making an appearance in 5th Edition. Artificers use their knowledge of the arcane to infuse objects with magic to aid them. They can also build their own automaton to crush enemies, carry heavy loads, or just about anything necessary for an adventurer. As with several of the older D&D campaign books, Eberron: From the Last War will also be released with two covers. The standard one includes cover art from Ben Oliver, who did the cover for Curse of Strahd and Tomb of Annihilation. The variant cover art is by Vance Kelly, the alternative cover artist for Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes.
Eberron: From the Last War will be available on November 19.
