Tabletop terrain giant Dwarven Forge has launched another Kickstarter based on Wildlands. Kickstarter is how they launch nearly all of their new sets, each of which is highly detailed with plenty of hands-on love. Their Wildlands set is focused on forest, mountains, and swamps. But if you want a chance to get your hands on the first production, you will need to act quickly. Because the Kickstarter ends on September 2nd at 7 PM MDT.
While the initial goal of the Dwarven Forge Kickstarter was $100,000. It currently sits at over $3 Million. Used by fans of Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and other tabletop RPGs, Dwarven Forge is the top name in the industry. It was started in 1996 by Stefan Pokorny and continues to boom in popularity each year, thanks largely in part to the hyper success of Dungeons & Dragons following the release of its 5th edition.
For the Wildlands Kickstarter, you can choose various options at varying levels of cost. You can get a simple starter with scatter terrain that is either forest, mountain, or swamp. It is $49 unpainted or $82 hand-painted. The three sets of Wargame Scatter terrain are $150 each unpainted or $269 hand-painted. Each set gets bigger and bigger until Mega Build, which contains massive sets of forest, swamp, and mountain four times over. That will cost a whopping $3,805 unpainted or $6,595 hand-painted. Of course, anyone who has used Dwarven Forge knows their paint quality is top-notch and is well worth the price.
At this point, Dwarven Forge has reached all of the stretch goals originally advertised. They could unlock more before the cut off on September 2nd, but currently, a huge amount of the extras are due to stretch goal success. It usually takes some time post-Kickstarter for the products to appear to be purchased on their website. The Hellscape featured at last spring’s D&D Descent into Avernus event is not presently on the site to buy, so it may be over a year for Wildlands, as well.
A date for when these products will ship is given as eight to ten months post-Pledge Manager. If you want to pledge, you can do so here. There are also multiple add-on sets.
