It’s just been announced through superstar actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson through an Instagram post that the trailer premiere for Warner Brothers Black Adam is set to be released on June 8th. The post features a picture of a suited-up Rock sitting down on set and reading a presumed script from the film, while the second picture shows the concept art of the incredible actor suited up in Black Adam’s throne, which according to Johnson has more meaning and power than some may realize.
This will mark the first full trailer fans have been given, with the first teaser trailer appearing in February, giving fans a sneak peek into the upcoming films Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Fans also learned that the antagonist for the film will be the Justice Society of America, as opposed to Zach Levi’s Shazam from the 2019 film. Dwayne Johnson states that he wouldn’t even sit on the anti-hero’s throne prior to filming the scene where the character rightfully earns it. The Instagram caption reads:
“The Throne of Black Adam. For the millions of you who know the Black Adam mythology – you understand the meaning and power of this throne. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t sit on it until we shot the actual scene where Black Adam has earned his right to take his sacred place on high. His throne is a big deal. So I always just sat my big ass at the steps and did my homework. We finally filmed “the iconic moment” and what a moment it was. World Premiere of the BLACK ADAM trailer drops JUNE 8TH”
Black Adam is a spin-off of 2019’s Shazam with the synopsis for the film reading, “Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods-and imprisoned just as quickly-Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”
The news is very exciting, and Johnson seems to be taking on the anti-hero with the utmost confidence possible. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Beau Flynn. Noah Centineo will also star as Al Rothstein or Atom Smasher, with Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, and Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz/Isis. Black Adam will be released on October 21st, 2022, and don’t miss the worldwide trailer releasing on June 8th!
