I loved the first Dying Light game. I was very glad to hear that it would be getting a sequel that could potentially expand on all of the things that I appreciated that the first game did. The parkour and combat are great but with a new generation of consoles fresh off their launch windows, it was an exciting thing to think about how that could improve on Dying Light 1 with new, more powerful hardware. After a few years of development that has been up and down for a number of reasons, we recently got a re-announcement of Dying Light 2, and earlier today, we got a special trailer just in time for Gamescom 2021.
In the above Dying Light 2 trailer, we got a fresh look at the upcoming game, and we also got to see some new tools that we’ll be able to make use of when the game (hopefully) releases on December 7, on both PlayStation and Xbox current and last-gen consoles and PC. Navigating the city of Villedor, described by Techland (the same developers who brought us the Dead Island franchise) as the “modern dark ages”, will require some new tools. In that sense, the new paraglider should make that job a little easier. Villedor in Dying Light 2 is around four times larger, and has more verticality than Harran in Dying Light 1, so in case you find yourself falling from a great height, the paraglider might be useful. We already saw the rope swing before, but that will more help you cross buildings than go lengthy distances.
The trailer also showed us a look at the different factions that call the city home. Your choices and who you decide to ally with will affect the outcome of the game, but if the new Dying Light 2 Gamescom trailer is anything to go by, your choices won’t be so black and white.
What do you think of the new Dying Light 2 Gamescom 2021 trailer? Are you looking forward to the game as much as I am? Leave a comment down below with your thoughts.
