After years since its announcement and several delays, fans are finally getting their hands on the highly anticipated Dying Light 2. The sequel to the 2015 cult classic open-world zombie game sees several returning features, including the ability to parkour and fight across The City with a friend in co-op. With the mode being so crucial in the first game, players will want to know if Dying Light 2 follows the trend of including cross-play in multiplayer games so that people can play with each other no matter the platform they choose. This guide will explain if there is cross-play in Dying Light 2.
Is There Cross-play In Dying Light 2?
Simply put, no, there is no cross-play available in Dying Light 2 at launch. Going beyond the lack of cross-play, the game also lacks the ability to play with people across console generations, so if you were one of the lucky ones to get a PlayStation 5, you are going to need to hook the PlayStation 4 if you want to play with friends that are getting the game on that system. Luckily, it was confirmed that the game will have a free next-gen upgrade, though that still means that you will need to get a next-gen console to play with friends on the system.

While cross-play is not in Dying Light 2 at launch, it does not mean it won’t be added to the title at a later date. While no official word has been said, Techland has already put out a roadmap saying that they plan on supporting Dying Light 2 with updates and content for the next five years. The feature may be added sometime in this period. If this is updated or the feature is announced, this article will be updated to reflect that.
Dying Light 2 game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
