Dying Light 2 is something of a potential turnaround story for the team at Techland. After the original game in the series, Dying Light was poorly received at launch, the team managed to bring in a slew of bug fix updates and content additions that quickly gave the game a cult following. As such, a sequel was born, and it now stands as one of the most hyped games of 2022. Whether it can fare better at launch will have to be seen a month from now, though it has plenty of opportunities to stand strong. The latest video displaying Dying Light 2’s skill tree and several of its perks is a testament to just that, which you can find below.
As the video showcases, Dying Light 2’s earnable skills are divided into two primary categories: Combat and Parkour. As these are the pillars of the game series itself, it makes sense to divide these two. When heading into the skill tree though, plenty of upgrades is more than just simple stat boosts. Over on the Combat side of things, you can pick up Block Charge, an ability where if you block, you can charge an enemy to shove them to the ground. Combine this with a high-up rooftop, and you’ve got not just an easy kill but also an easy way back down. There’s also Perfect Parry, which lets you stagger your enemy when parrying an attack.
The Parkour side of things is where it gets interesting though. For example, the Bash skill lets you push through enemies and smaller obstacles while maintaining momentum, letting no simple zombies stand in the way of your Mirror’s Edge-esque dash across the street. There’s also Tic Tac which lets you run horizontally along a wall. I mean come on people, who doesn’t like wall running? With both the Combat and Parkour skill trees having 24 different skills each to get, there’s plenty you can do to improve your character in Dying Light 2.
With that, I’d like to hear your thoughts. Are you interested in the skills on offer? Anything you hope that Techland has in store for Dying Light 2 that hasn’t been shown? Let me know!
