Dying Light, the critically acclaimed zombie survival game, is now five years old. The game turned five on January 27th, which was a month ago, but the team behind the game is saying better late than never. Today the developers have announced that their anniversary celebrations are now underway, offering a lot of exciting news for new and returning players. The news was announced on Dying Light’s Twitter with the celebrations lasting for the next month.
First off, the game is having its first-ever free weekend starting now! You can currently hop on Steam and download the game, allowing you to play completely free until Sunday, February 23rd at 10 AM PT. This is a great opportunity to try a great survival game that’s even playable with up to three other friends. If you’re interested in this offer, you can download through the Play Game button on Dying Light’s Steam page. On top of that, the game is currently 67% off, so you can continue playing following the free weekend. There isn’t a better time to play the game, so be sure to hop in and let us know how it goes.
If you’re already a Dying Light fan, though, you aren’t being left out. Over the next month, there will be a lot of events happening with plenty of things for you to claim. This week, you need to assault Fort Jefferson and help clear out the increased amount of volatiles in the area. For taking part, you’ll receive a new C4 blueprint as well as King Mods for your arsenal. This will only be available until February 26th, though, so make sure to get in on the action. There will be more events in the coming weeks, so be sure to watch out and see what you can earn.
There are a few extra surprises as well. For those who are new or want a different take on Dying Light, there’s a new difficulty setting that focuses more on the story than challenging gameplay. This mode is known as Story Mode and joins Normal, Hard, and Nightmare in the difficulty lineup. As for veteran players, there’s a 5th Anniversary Bundle available for $2.99 that includes three new weapons. There’s a pipe that rewards consecutive hits, a new sledgehammer, and a double-barreled shotgun with many new perks. The bundle is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
A lot of exciting news for Dying Light fans, with much more to come until March 19th. Will you be trying out the game’s free weekend? If you’ve already played, are you excited about Dying Light 2? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for more news, reviews, and more!
