The final game of Ubisoft’s E3 2016 conference was Steep, a new massive open world sports game that boasts GoPro camera views. Steep’s development is being led by Ubisoft Annecy. They are located at the base of the Alps, a location which the studio manager, Rebecka Coutaz, and creative director, Igor Manceau, have credited as the inspiration for the game. Steep is set in the Alps, at the intersection of Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and France.
From the trailer alone, Steep looks visually stunning with plenty of adrenaline-inducing moments, as players can choose to snowboard, ski, wingsuit, or even paraglide down large mountains and essentially create their own play style. The open world aspect gives players the freedom to both explore and meet other players from across the world.
There is a unique feature in Steep called ‘mountain view’, which allows you to observe the environment and the mountains by zooming in and out. Every ride down the mountain creates a trail, and while you are in ‘mountain view’ you can analyze your gameplay by pausing, rewinding, and even going in slow motion.
Interconnectivity seems to be one of the biggest features of Steep, as players can create challenges for their friends to participate in, as well share their own gameplay and awesome stunts. As you ride, you will constantly meet other riders in the game and have the option to follow them and create your own challenges together.
You can go to the Steep site right now and register for the beta. The game will be released this December for Windows PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
