Bethesda has been ramping up for their next big, original title. Not Fallout 76 or any other game from the publisher on one of its many iterations. Definitely not Skyrim: Very Special Edition (not yet at least). Something new, an IP the world has never seen before. Their ramping up has reached its climax, and we finally know what to expect. Well… sort of. Starfield, Bethseda’s long-rumored science fiction title.
The rumors for this one date back to 2013, back to when Bethesda’s parent company, Zenimax, trademarked Starfield next to Fallout 4. And, since it’s such a new game, there’s barely any information on it. The only snippet of something actually pertaining to how the game will be formatted has come in rumors. And those come in large quantities when all were given is what we see in the announcement trailer below.
A sun peeking out from the shadow of a planet, only to reveal a space station hovering outside the planet’s atmosphere. Suddenly, something from beyond what we can possibly conceive–a portable black hole, maybe–appears out of nowhere and sucks the station into it. Cut to black. What does it mean for the game itself? What can we expect when strapping into our space suits for this one? Bethesda is bound to have at least some of the answers at QuakeCon.
Apparently, Starfield will be a first-person shooter/RPG hybrid. Other than that, we have nothing about release dates or the platforms it’ll be available on.
Bethesda had a number of other reveals and trailers as well. Wolfenstein Youngblood will be coming next year, as well as Fallout 76. A trailer for the latter was shown at Microsoft’s E3 2018 show, but the publisher showed off more of what fans can expect during their own conference. Make sure to keep tabs with us here for more information on new and upcoming titles. E3 2018 is only half-way through.
