E3 2019 is almost here. This Electronic Entertainment Expo will be a little more empty than usual but it’s still one of the best gaming events of the year. From every press conference to the games that have been confirmed for the expo, here’s everything you need to know heading into E3 2019:
E3 2019 Conference Times:
Microsoft – Sunday, June 9th at 4:00 PM EST/1:00 PM PST
Halo and Gears of War. These two franchises made Xbox the brand it is today. It just so happens that these two franchises will be shown at E3 2019. Gears 5 will seemingly stray away from J.D Fenix as the main character and instead focus on Kait Diaz, who is on a quest to uncover her true lineage. In a bit of obvious news, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has endorsed the progress of the game. He shared this via Twitter, stating that Gears 5 is “looking great”.
This is the only one I could sneak while Rod wasn't looking. Gears 5 is looking great. pic.twitter.com/yfUxvYEoOi

Halo Infinite will also be a featured game for Xbox. Thurrott’s Brad Sams has reported that Microsoft is planning to display Halo Infinite as a next-gen game. Apparently, the game will have a demo that will run on PC (with an Xbox controller) because “they don’t want the first impression of the new game to be running on the now dated Xbox One hardware”.
Along with that, Sams stated that Microsoft will also announce “at least” 3 new IPs. If true, these IPs are most likely from the many gaming studios Microsoft has acquired over the past year. A new Fable has been rumored as well and we can all pretty much bank on seeing a Forza game in some shape or form. There are also some rumors that Microsoft will unveil some stuff surrounding their next-gen console. Based off of how the initial Xbox One announcement went, here’s hoping this reveal goes better.
Bethesda – Sunday, June 9th at 8:30 PM EST/5:30 PM PST
The rumors around Microsoft’s E3 are (mostly) promising and sheds a light on where the platform is going over the next few years. Bethesda’s E3 2019 is looking… a little bleak.
I’m sorry but I have to rip this band-aid off rather quickly. Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 will not be at E3 2019. At E3 2018, Bethesda officially revealed both of these now highly-anticipated titles. Coming out of the conference, Bethesda looked like absolute rockstars with those reveals and their Fallout 76 demo. The rest of the year, however, wasn’t kind to the studio.
Without getting into it in full detail, Fallout 76 did not pan out as intended. Rage 2 released to mixed reviews ranging from great to mediocre. Point is, Bethesda needs a win. Without Elder Scrolls 6 or Starfield there at the expo to pick up the slack, it’s going to be interesting to see what Bethesda has to show.
Doom Eternal, which sees Hell finally come to Earth, will most likely be the big game for Bethesda this year. Along with that, we can expect to see Wolfenstein: Youngblood and a few updates to already released Bethesda titles. Here’s hoping Doom Eternal is that win for Bethesda and we don’t waste an hour of our time watching the studio announce a bunch of updates.
Devolver Digital – Sunday, June 9th at 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PM PST
Yeah, I know. You don’t have to tell me twice. They are… let’s just say pretty weird. Just tune in at 10 PM EST and see this publisher’s conference for yourself. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, you can click here to see their 2018 conference (It’s certainly something).
PC Gaming Show – Monday, June 10th at 1:00 PM EST/10:00 AM PST
The fifth edition of the PC Gaming Show takes place June 10th at 1:00 PM EST. Rebellion is set to reveal “a major unannounced new title” this year, along with Sniper Elite VR and Evil Genius 2. For more information about the PC Gaming Show, check out this article from PC Gamer.
We're delighted to confirm that we're going to be bringing THREE titles to @E3 2019;
✅Evil Genius 2
✅Sniper Elite VR
✅A MAJOR UNANNOUNCED NEW TITLE

Ubisoft – Monday, June 10th at 4:00 PM EST/1:00 PM PST
Recent leaks of a new Watch Dogs game led Ubisoft to unveil Watch Dogs Legion a little bit earlier than expected. According to these leaks, Watch Dogs Legion will take place in a near-future version of London and you will have the ability to play as anyone. Kotaku confirmed this report, stating that the system “is so ambitious that it’s been causing the developers a lot of headaches (and may have led to at least one delay)”.

We also have Ghost Recon Breakpoint, a game that was revealed back in early May. Breakpoint features The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal as Cole Walker (the game’s main antagonist). Ubisoft is sure to give us some more footage to dissect at E3 2019. Although Ubisoft has stated that they will not release an Assassin’s Creed game in 2019, recent rumors suggest the studio is working on a new game in the franchise with a Viking theme. Fans have been asking for a new Splinter Cell game for years now. Since we won’t see Beyond Good & Evil 2 at E3, Ubisoft will surely have a surprise or two this weekend.
Square Enix – Monday, June 10th at 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PM PST
Square Enix probably had the worst showing at E3 2018. They are looking to change that this year. That starts with Marvel’s Avengers, a game that has been teased by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamic since 2017. A listing on the E3 Coliseum website describes what we could expect from Marvel’s Avengers at E3 (courtesy of PC Gamer and Twitter user Evan Filarca)
“Embrace your powers and join key members of the development team at Crystal Dynamics and the creative team at Marvel Games as they talk exclusively about the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. This is the defining Avengers gaming experience: an epic action-adventure that combines cinematic storytelling with continuous single-player and co-operative gameplay. Moderated by Andrea Rene, assemble in teams up to four players, master extraordinary abilities, customize your heroes to fit your playstyle, and combine powers to defend an ever-expanding world under constant threat.”
A lot of people are analyzing this panel description and comparing Marvel’s Avengers to something akin to Destiny. Whether or not Square Enix is making their own version of the hit loot-based shooter with Marvel characters, this conference will be worth watching solely due to this reveal.
Nintendo – Tuesday, June 11th at 12:00 PM EST/9:00 AM PST
Ah, Nintendo. These Nintendo Direct shows are always eventful in some way, shape, or form. E3 2019 should be no different. Well, other than the fact that we won’t see Reggie Fils-Aime during the show. Who can forget the classic E3 line:
“My name is Reggie. I’m about kickin’ ass, I’m about takin’ names, and we’re about makin’ games.”
But, he’s off enjoying his well-deserved retirement so we’ll just have to move on. Link’s Awakening and a new Animal Crossing game are both slated for 2019 releases. A new Legend of Zelda game has been rumored to be in the works for months now. Maybe E3 2019 is the time to reveal it to the world?
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has yet-to-be-announced DLC on the horizon and Luigi’s Mansion 3 has a 2019 release date too. With a chance to steal the show at E3 2019, it’s a good time to be a Nintendo fan.
Other Games That Will/Won’t Be At E3 2019:
Unfortunately, Sony and EA will not be at E3 this year. Sony has opted to skip the event entirely. Instead of a press conference, EA will host live streams for their upcoming games just before the conferences get underway. So we can expect to see the likes of Madden, FIFA, Jedi: Fallen Order, Battlefield V, and Apex Legends this Saturday, June 8th starting at 12:15 PM EST (You can see the full EA Play Schedule here).
There are two additional press conferences not mentioned above. Limited Run Games has a conference on Monday, June 10th at 3:00 PM EST/12:00 PM PST. Along with that, Kinda Funny Games is hosting a showcase on Monday, June 10th at 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PM PST.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be at E3 this weekend. The franchise is looking to return to its former glory and shake things up this year. Recent announcements of Modern Warfare featuring full cross-play and no season pass are a great start. However, the gameplay is what truly matters.
Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Dying Light 2 will also somehow fit into the E3 jigsaw puzzle this weekend as well, rounding out what should be another eventful Electronic Entertainment Expo.
And that’s everything you need to know before E3 2019. You can watch E3 2019 via YouTube or Twitch and be sure to check in with The Nerd Stash on all of the latest announcements from the show.
