Ben Best, the co-creator of the show Eastbound & Down passed away today at the age of 46. Best was a longtime collaborator of Danny McBride and Jody Hill. Ben Best’s death has come as a shock to many. In addition to co-creating the show, Best also helped write it. He also played a recurring character in season 4 named Clegg. Best also helped write Your Highness and The Foot Fist Way with McBride.

Rough House Pictures announced Ben Best’s death on Instagram. In their post, they lamented the passing of their friend:
It’s with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our good buddy Ben Best. We lost him the day before he would have turned 47. A hell of a friend and a creative force. He inspired us and made us laugh. Charming and hilarious. Gone way too soon. We love and miss you.”Â
Friends and Fans Pay Tribute
Ben Best’s cause of death is currently unknown. Best is known for playing eccentric bit parts in films like What Happens in Vegas and Land of the Lost. Comedians quickly took to Twitter to publicly pay tribute to their friend.

I remember seeing him as Chuck The Truck in Foot Fist Way and thinking “I have to work with this man.”, tweeted actor Seth Rogan. “I’m honored I got work with him, and even more so and that I got to hang out with him and just be in his company. Watch Foot Fist Way today and bask in his genius.” Rogan previously worked with Ben Best on the films Superbad and Observe and Report.
Comedian Adam Pally also paid tribute on Twitter, tweeting “RIP Ben Best – truly can not put how much foot fist way meant to me. Sucks.”
