Ed Sheeran’s suicidal thoughts were framed by losing his closest pals to death. But with his wife next to him, he triumphed. The singer goes uncensored, pouring out his reality during an interview with Rolling Stone.

Music has always been an outlet to pour his reality, including the highs and lows. After announcing his new album, “Subtract,” Ed Sheeran walked fans through his motivation.

The English singer confessed he had been sculpting the album for years. However, it was not until last year that he got what to write about. The album was shaped by the death of his friend, his wife’s pregnancy, and his mental health.

Ed Sheeran described the content of the work as his “deepest darkest thoughts. During a rather brutally honest interview with Rolling Stone, he detailed these thoughts clearly.

At the opening of the chit-chat, Ed Sheeran’s suicidal thoughts were the focus. The singer confessed that losing his friends pushed him to the edge.

Ed Sheeran’s Suicidal thoughts After Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne’s Death

Ed Sheeran’s dead pals who plunged him to dark thoughts were Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne. Jamal, son of Brenda Edwards, was only 31 when he shut his eyes forever. The music entrepreneur suffered a cardiac arrest after acting paranoid. His paranoia was influenced by cocaine and alcohol consumption.

On the other hand, Shane Warne was already a family man who played cricket for his country. The Aussie sports star died away from home, only a few weeks after Jamal’s passing.

The “Shape of You” crooner could not phantom life without his buddies. Losing Jamal made him distraught, he felt like drowning, that was when Ed Sheeran’s suicidal thoughts kicked in and he said:

“I felt like I didn’t want to live anymore. And I have had that throughout my life… You’re just sort of in this thing. And you can’t get out of it.”

To him, battling his mental health felt selfish, especially as a father of two kids. But somehow, his wife, Cherry Seaborn understood his plight. She stuck by him and advised him to enroll in therapy.

Ed Sheeran’s suicidal thoughts were not the only note-worthy discussion. Before ending the chat, the singer admitted he was married to the bottles at a younger age.

Despite loving alcohol, Ed Sheeran did not subscribe to drug use until he turned 24. At first, it was a social behavior until it became a part of his routine. He refused to mention the name of the substance, maintaining honesty, but wisely. He believed his kids might grow up to read his confession.

What changed his mind about drinking was his wife. Seaborn helped him to understand how he needed to stay grounded as a dad. Meanwhile, he had a rethink about substances after losing his friend.
