Following his BAFTA win, Austin Butler spoke to Insider about his plan to take a vacation after the Oscars, which sees the star with a nomination for his performance in Elvis. The film has a total of eight nominations, including the actor’s nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.
The actor has some projects lined up. He will star in the stacked cast of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part 2, featuring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and more. He also wrapped The Bikeriders, which will see him join Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon. As the Academy Awards hit this March, Austin Butler said he is looking forward to being “unemployed” after the award season for Elvis. When that rolls around, he will be taking a much-deserved break.
“Right now, I’m unemployed, which is exciting. It means I get to go on vacation after March.”
Elvis star Austin Butler will take a vacation after the Oscars
The actor’s dedication to the role does call for a break. He had revealed that he had not seen his family “for about three years.” After doing the voice of the iconic musician, he also damaged his vocal cords, leading to him leaving the voice behind as he adjusts back to a post-Elvis life.
As award season reaches the climax with the Academy Awards, we will see Austin Butler get a nomination for Elvis, including seven other nominations for the film. The other noms include Best Picture, Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Costume Design, Best Achievement in Film Editing, and Best Achievement in Production Design.
The Oscars are only a few weeks away, as it will be on March 12 at 5 p.m. PT. Elvis will have tough competition, especially Austin Butler. Other nominees for the Best Actor category include Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Paul Mescal (Aftersun), and Bill Nighy (Living).
