The latest star to come on board the cast of Madame Web is Emma Roberts, as reported by Deadline. The film will be led by Dakota Johnson in the leading role with supporting stars Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Tahar Rahim. Most of the roles are currently unknown, along with details on the plot.
With the casting of Johnson, we will likely see a different depiction of the character. In the comics, she is an elderly woman on life support in the shape of a spider web. She was never a crime fighter beating on villains like Vulture or Green Goblin. Instead, after discovering who was behind the mask of Spider-Man, she became an ally. The rumor is that the film will go in the direction of something similar to Doctor Strange.

Sony has been building its universe focusing on villains and anti-heroes with two Venom movies and Morbius. A Kraven the Hunter movie will be the next as it releases on January 13, 2023.
Emma Roberts joining the Madame Web cast makes it her first superhero movie. Although, she did have powers in a way for the third season of American Horror Story.
