Everspace 2 has received its first delay on a release date. While delays are inevitable, it’s definitely odd for a different title to cause those delays. Cyberpunk 2077 is a name that’s been circulating for the last few years. Even when the title was first released, the first trailer stated, “coming when it’s ready.” The first Everspace still maintains a fair following, so why is CD Projekt Red’s game causing problems with its release date for the second?
Why is Everspace 2 Being Delayed?
Rockfish Games, the game developers, state that they are pushing back their release to January 2021. This was not a decision they make lightly. They consulted multiple PR channels and determined a pushback on the release date was the best course of action. They were advised that much of the media coverage and content creators this December will focus almost exclusively on Cyberpunk 2077.
While Everspace 2 fans are taking a hit, there is a silver lining. On November 2nd, all Kickstarter supporters of the project get a pre-release key on November 2nd. It will grant them “access to the first 10-ish hours of gameplay.” Luckily, there will be no end ‘final date’ to play the Closed Beta.
The full game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in January 2021. Everspace 2 is a space-themed, single-player title complete with loot, exploration, and much-loved RPG elements.
Despite the inconvenience for players, this can provide opportunity for developers. This may allow them to improve upon things they didn’t have time beforehand. Game elements that still have glitches can still improve.
What do you think of the delay announced by ROCKFISH Games? Are you a supporter of the project on Kickstarter? Are you looking forward to the Closed Beta? Does the title deserve to have release pushed back? Let us know in the comments!
